The place is gorgeous, but it would have been nice to see non‑alcoholic drinks instead of the complimentary champagne guests got at check‑in.

The historic vibe is nice, but parking costs $60 a day, which is outrageous.

This gorgeous hotel, steeped in history and located in a prime Denver spot, offered amazing facilities and friendly staff. The afternoon tea was superb, and the guided hotel tour was both knowledgeable and engaging. Our room’s view was fantastic, and the hotel sits just two blocks from the 16th Street Mall, with other attractions nearby.

The history was impressive, but the door was so jammed we had to call maintenance. The room stayed too cold, and we couldn’t raise the temperature or turn the unit off; maintenance worked on it until 2 AM—unbelievable. We asked for a different room, but none were available, so they supplied heaters, a blanket, and towels to block the vents. They didn’t compensate us at all, and it didn’t help—very, very disappointing!

It was relatively clean for a historic building—that’s all. I’d bet the Holiday Inn across the street is better! We stayed one night last week and had a very disappointing experience. The room was extremely cold, colder than any other hotel we stayed in Denver. We called the front desk and were told an engineer would come; after an hour nothing arrived, so we called again. About 30 minutes later, two staff checked the wall unit, said everything was fine, and left. It wasn’t fine, and we barely slept. At checkout we mentioned the problem, but the front desk agent seemed uninterested and offered no apology or solution. The bigger issue was the bill: our expected total of about $300 turned into nearly $600, with a double charge for food, an unexplained extra fee, and tax on top of fees. I had to spend a lot of time disputing charges that shouldn’t have been there. Finally, we waited 15 minutes outside for our car from valet. If returns take that long, please let guests know ahead of time so they can plan. I’m sharing this so management can address these issues: heating/AC in our room, response time to guest requests, billing accuracy, and how complaints are handled at checkout. Also the food—both breakfast and the dinner at the Tavern—was overpriced and not good. Eat somewhere else!
