I appreciated the service and comfort, but the music in the restaurant—whether it's playing or someone singing—was way too loud for background; it should have been much softer.

“Perfect for 2 days”

The room and its location were great. We also booked the temple tour through the hotel, and the driver was excellent with superb organization.

“No elijan ese hotel no elijan Malioboro!!!”

The location is awful; you can’t get out onto the street because of the traffic, and it takes 10 minutes to walk the remaining 200 m to the hotel. It’s very stressful, and the surrounding area beyond the hotel is terrible. I don’t recommend staying in Malioboro; the neighborhood is horrible. The Hotel De Viejo has a covered pool, but the water is cold. The spa is good and offers massages, breakfast is average, and while the staff are helpful, they don’t speak English, so communication is impossible. The location is terrible, the area is horrible, the traffic is bad, it’s ugly, it doesn’t feel like walking, there are no nice places to eat, and nothing. The hotel staff don’t speak English, and the hotel is quite old. It’s expensive for what you get. The people are very helpful, but because they don’t speak English, it’s impossible to communicate.
