Jose and his family were very friendly and accommodating in their working home and garden; the spot is great, just up the street from an excellent natural swimming pool and trail, with good food and close to the airport and ferry. The accommodations are very functional for overnighting and serve as a solid base camp for island adventures. However, the place is not meant for “hanging out” inside; there’s no AC, the kitchen doubles as a couch area but isn’t comfortable after a day of exploring, and bedrooms are the proper rest spots. It’s a great launch pad, but if you plan to cook you’ll need to buy almost everything—basic staples are scarce, except for coffee and tea.

A beautiful spot with super kind people. We felt at home and were warmly welcomed by José and his wife. The son, a taxi driver, fed us several times, always very punctual. The apartment is basic but has everything you need. The garden is full of lovely plants. The island was our favorite in the Azores!

The location is very good for exploring the island by car, close to the airport. The side street is quiet. There is a parking spot available for cars.
