“You can do worse for the price, but you can also do better.”
The spot was convenient between the main street and the monkey forest. It wasn’t very clean or modern, but that’s understandable given the price. The owners seemed nice, yet the experience was odd. Guard dogs barked whenever someone was on the property—a strange feature for a hotel or homestay. The massage parlour next door, supposedly relaxing, was a problem; one of the customers reportedly bit someone. When I went to shower, there was no water, so I had to find staff, but nobody was around except the barking dogs. I ended up asking the massage parlour for help, and they called the staff who eventually fixed it, though the water took hours to heat. I asked about breakfast because it was supposedly included, but the staff member didn’t speak English, so after a lot of Google Translate, I learned she would return at eight o’clock the next morning. That happened, and the breakfast turned out to be plain pancakes with sliced papaya and banana, which we didn’t finish. I was excited to make coffee, but only coffee sachets were provided and no bottled water. The bed had just a single thin blanket that didn’t cover the bed.
