“Fawlty Towers - Very Unsuitable Accommodation for a Lone Female”
The on‑site staff were friendly and the restaurant food was nice, yet my experience was fraught with problems. I had a stressful trip from Scotland and found the cabins a 15‑minute walk from the reception and car park, down a country lane that is only partially lit—unwise for a lone female traveller at night. I requested a golf buggy because of an injury, but it broke down the next morning; a passing greenkeeper gave me a lift. The instruction email link didn’t open, even the restaurant staff tried, and there was no clear way to lower the projector screen—no TVs in the cabins, only a projector with two remotes and no instructions. When I finally got it working, the picture was so blurred I couldn’t see how to fix it. The staff helped, but the screen was switched off during dinner and I gave up trying to use it. The next day, after work, the cabin temperature hit 29 °C—like a sauna—so a staff member turned on a fan. After half an hour with the windows open I felt sick, the temperature dropped to 28.5 °C, and I left for dinner. Two hours later it was 24.5 °C. I emailed the general manager twice, but he ignored me and never replied. I’m willing to pay £150/night, but I’m not happy with the response. The on‑site staff are nice and try hard to help, and the restaurant meal was good, but I would not recommend this place.
