Lima House Hostel

“A basis, budget friendly hostel in the city.”

Good value for money, a spacious dorm and a shared kitchen. I chose this hostel mainly because it’s close to a public hospital where I could get my yellow‑fever shot if I missed the one at the airport. The main drawback was the noise. A bar across the road and traffic made the room facing the street noisy, so if you’re a light sleeper, ask for a room deeper inside. I also would have liked beds with privacy curtains; they’re a nice bonus in a dorm, giving more privacy and comfort.

The hostel sits in a historic building right in the heart of the city, making it easy to walk to nearby historic sites. The rooms are comfortable and include small lockers, and the kitchen is nicely equipped. Breakfast is good. While strolling through the old city of Lima, I still felt the colonial-era political, military, and religious power center, with the Weapons Square and surrounding buildings telling the story of colonization, and the well-preserved Franciscan Monastery and former Spanish governor’s residence, now the presidential palace, standing as key colonial landmarks.

“agreable”

Being able to have breakfast on my own in the living area was very pleasant, and there was a baby foot. The receptionist didn't speak English, but we managed to understand each other.

“Pratique mais bruyant”

The location was convenient for visiting the Historic Centre, with shops, a currency exchange and restaurants nearby. The welcome was very friendly, and the room was ready when I arrived at 8 am, so I could enter without an extra charge; the hot shower was nice and the room temperature was good. Room number 5, right next to the reception, was noisy and should be avoided – I only stayed there a few hours while waiting for my 4 am flight, and I’m not sure I could have slept through the night.
