Maplewood luxurious one-bed flat with free parking

“Decepcionante”

The apartment was huge, the host was very friendly and answered all our requests, and the private parking is just behind the building in a quiet area. The bathroom was beautiful with a bathtub, but the plug didn’t work and we couldn’t bathe the kids. The place has a lot of potential but needs a lot of work; overall it was quite dirty, especially the kitchen, which was a horror. The floor had holes and my little son got his foot stuck and was hurt. All dishes, cutlery and kitchenware were very dirty, the freezer couldn’t open because of accumulated ice. Families choose an apartment over a hotel for the kitchen, but here we couldn’t cook—only a frying pan that was about to be thrown away, a very small pot, or an enormous pot. On the first day we made toast and the fire alarm went off because of the burnt bread crumbs. We tried to clean the oven tray but the grease was impossible to remove. The floor has an energy-saving system and the boiler isn’t enough for four people, so the adults had to shower with cold water so the kids could have hot water. The extra child bed’s mattress had to be put directly on the floor because the frame only had legs on one side, so it couldn’t be used. If these issues are fixed, the apartment could be a 10, but right now it’s lamentable.

“3 weeks stay”

The location was good, but the flat is marketed as “luxury” with a 4‑star rating, which doesn’t match our experience. It was an okay one‑bedroom flat and we stayed for about three weeks. When we arrived it didn’t look or feel clean, so we cleaned it ourselves and washed all the bed linen before using it. During our stay the washing machine broke while our clothes were inside, and it took more than 24 hours for someone to fix it, which was very disappointing given the length of our stay. On the bright side, Pauline was helpful and responsive, which we appreciated.

The area is quiet, the bed is comfortable and the bathroom is nice. It’s close to the train to London and within walking distance to a cozy centre and pub. The parking isn’t private as advertised; we had to park on the street outside and the friendly neighbours told us where we could park without getting fined. It wasn’t straightforward, but we were lucky to find a spot in front of the house.

“Great location but apartment disappointing”

The owner responded quickly and helped me access the property easily. The location was good for the station and restaurants, and the rooms were very spacious. A separate table and chairs for dining were a nice touch. Unfortunately the bath/shower didn’t work when we arrived, and although the shower was fixed the same day I had specifically chosen the apartment because it had a bath but couldn’t use it during my stay. I know many people don’t cook, but we like to mix eating out with cooking when we’re away, so we were disappointed to find the kitchen utensils were very old, tired and mismatched, not a full crockery set, and there was only one wine glass, so sharing a glass of wine with our meal wasn’t as pleasant as we’d hoped.

“Lovely property, great communication from hosts and location.”

The apartment was lovely and properly maintained.
