Northern Arts Hotel

The vibe was charming, old‑worldy, and the staff were welcoming, making it a very relaxing stay; I’ll come back and plan to stay on a weekend to catch the live music.

During our fourth visit to Northern Arts we were greeted by familiar friendly faces, and the gracious old building was beautifully decorated; there was nothing to complain about, which is why we keep returning.

This isn’t your typical hotel; it’s filled with antique furniture, lovely artwork, and décor, and the staff were friendly and told us where to eat and shared the hotel’s history. We ended up going to the show that night, which was fabulous, and I highly recommend this place; there was nothing to note otherwise.

The location is good, the staff are friendly (and the dog is a bonus!).

The room was roomy and comfy, and the quirky decor really made it feel special. We even caught a live band on the Saturday we arrived, plus there’s a fantastic bakery right next door. The only downside was the price jump for an ensuite – it was the most expensive place we stayed, while the others were half or two‑thirds that cost and all had ensuites. I wish I’d booked a shared‑bathroom room instead.
