There was no cold water at the kitchen sink.

It was an authentic experience, but the soap for washing your face was missing. The bed linens felt old-fashioned. The bathroom only offered privacy if the doors to the neighboring rooms were shut, and there were no keys; that was odd. I didn’t see any mosquito screens for the windows, so they stayed closed. We also booked the dinner experience with the manade tour at the same location. The tour lasted two hours in French only, with no accommodation for international visitors. The dinner served coffee but had no cream or milk, and the bread came without butter, which was also strange.

The setting is exceptional and the tradition is well preserved.
