“Very disappointing experience. Beautiful Pyramid view, but not worth the price.”
We contacted the hotel before arrival explaining that our flight landed at night and asking for paid early check-in. At 6:00 a.m. no room was available. They first offered to put four people in a single room for $30. When we said we would go to another hotel, a four-person room suddenly became available for $40, only from 6:00 to 11:00 a.m. Exhausted after travelling all night, we accepted. Our two actual rooms had been booked months in advance with official check-in at 2:00 p.m. We returned at 2:30 and only one was ready. They told us the second would take “5 minutes”, but we saw it completely dismantled, with water on the floor and staff still assembling the bed and furniture. After 1.5 hours it was still not ready, so after complaining we were finally given another room. That room faced an internal area full of AC units, with almost no natural light. Worse, the air conditioner itself was extremely noisy, making it impossible to use at night while sleeping. The bathroom had only two medium towels, no bath mat, and the toilet cistern constantly made noise. Tap water also appeared very cloudy/whitish. Spa and gym are advertised, but when we followed the hotel signs to the first floor, we found a floor under major construction and no usable spa or gym. A staff member confirmed they were unavailable. This was not clearly stated when we booked. The listing also says Italian is spoken, but during our stay we did not find anyone who could communicate with us in Italian. Breakfast was average/poor and service inattentive; several times we even had to ask again for water. The rooftop experience was particularly unpleasant. Four of us wanted drinks on a practically empty rooftop. We added one chair to a table for three. A female manager with black hair removed it and told us the table was only for three. She said four people had to use the upper floor. We explained there was no phone reception/internet upstairs and asked to remain where we were, especially since the area was empty with plenty of free tables and chairs. She still refused. Rather than argue over one chair on an empty rooftop, we left and spent our money at another rooftop. The Pyramid view is genuinely beautiful and they are geographically close. However, once you step outside, the reality is very different from the photos: the street is extremely chaotic, dusty and badly damaged, with vendors and children constantly approaching you. Even though the Pyramids look very close, walking that short distance can become surprisingly stressful and difficult. Overall, the beautiful view does not compensate for the poor service, maintenance issues, unavailable advertised facilities and disappointing rooms. Considering the price we paid, we expected a completely different standard. We would definitely not return
