I had the chance to stay in a classic Japanese house.
We appreciated the stickers on every cupboard and drawer that showed what was inside, making it easy to find kitchen items. The fridge already had basic ingredients, so we could cook whatever we brought. A five‑minute walk led us to the water’s edge where surfers were having fun. The place was clean and well maintained. The only downside was that the town was tiny, with no people around the station, no buses or cabs, so we had to walk about 1.5 km with our luggage from the station to the house.

The kitchen is large, and the seasonings are complete, so it’s great for cooking. The door lock isn’t very good.
The house was awesome, feeling like my own home. The kitchen had enough gear for a steamboat on a cool day, and the room could fit 10 people with 10 pieces of luggage. The owner, however, barred check‑in until after 6 pm for safety, which forced us to shift our plans.
We really loved the apartment. Yoko, the owner, put a lot of thought into making guests’ stay as enjoyable as possible, and everything a person needs or wants was there. The clear, detailed instructions brought us great joy. The area is lovely and full of hiking trails, and Yoko herself goes above and beyond to help if there’s a problem. In short, this apartment was the highlight of our trip to Japan, and we’d love to stay there again.
