Sunsan Hotel

The room view and the restaurant are nice, and the front‑desk staff are very competent and helpful, yet all the common areas were dirty and dusty with laundry bins left in the corridors, the elevator was broken, the pool cloakroom was a mess and not cleaned, breakfast took a long time to be served and a plain black coffee was impossible to get, the dining room staff were not very pleasant, the restaurant’s half‑board option was very limited in menu choices, and the bathroom in the room was in dire need of refurbishment.

“Minunat”

I had a reservation at this hotel, but unfortunately we could not stay because the hotel went into renovation; the staff were very kind and arranged accommodation at another hotel, Double Tree By Hilton, with excellent conditions, the same balcony‑room type and breakfast included as originally booked, and we thank Sunsan Hotel and Double Tree By Hilton for the wonderful stay. There were no problems.

Everything was liked, including the fact that on the second of the four days we were supposed to stay, a forest fire broke out and the courteous hotel staff independently and without loss gathered our belongings and moved us to a Hilton. Although the Hilton lacked a balcony, view of the Dardanelles, and its own beach, overall we lost the chance to stay there, but that’s only for “me and nature” enthusiasts. There was a sewage smell in the bathroom, but that always gets fixed by adding water to the common bathroom drain that usually dries out; if you find that drain and a glass of water, no problem.

The location near the sea and easy beach access, as well as the beautiful view from the room, were the biggest positives. The main drawback was breakfast – the same every day, only Turkish tea, no juices or sodas. On the second day a wedding was held at the hotel, and the noise continued all night, preventing us from sleeping. Additionally, the room air‑conditioner broke down; the staff offered to move us to another room, but we didn’t want to.

Because of the extraordinary fire situation in the area, they offered to move us to another hotel if gas didn’t arrive, and everything was sorted out and fine. We were on half‑board, breakfast and dinner were tasty but repetitive.
