“Good for a max 4-5 nights stay”
Near the Minami‑Senju metro exit and the JR Toban line—an 11‑minute walk. The room has heating and AC, plenty of washbasins, so no waiting. The mattress and blanket are comfortable. The private room is very small. I’m fortunate because I travel with a backpack and a 20‑inch bag. The pillow is terrible—so thin it’s unusable. The shoe area near the check‑in smells awful. Cleanliness is mediocre because some men can’t aim when they pee! No basic toiletries are provided, such as a towel, toothbrush, or razor.
Price and the host’s attitude. Could not tolerate the odor.
The price, key‑locked private room, and courteous, polite staff. The shared areas are on the first floor, so the upper floors are very quiet. Considering the price, I’m not dissatisfied, but a desk chair for meals would have been nice. Also, ID presentation is required.
“Razem z koleżanką jesteśmy bardzo zadowolone z pobytu tutaj, polecam serdecznie.”
The staff are very friendly and caring. Everyone is approachable. We met warm people there. The staff maintain the cleanliness of the property. It’s close to the metro and offers great value for money.
“Best private room hostel with the best owner in Tokyo”
I stayed at Joe Backpackers and the place is spot on – clean, cheap for private 2‑person rooms, and the location is unbeatable. A 7‑eleven is just 2‑3 minutes away, the onsen is 10 minutes, Minowa Senju metro 10 minutes, and a supermarket plus ramen restaurant 5 minutes. The futons are super comfy, each room has AC, the common areas are spotless, the living room is great, and there’s a washer and dryer in the hostel for 200 yens. The host was incredibly friendly and caring; on the first day they invited us to a Takoyaki night with other guests, which was awesome – the Takoyaki and the lively atmosphere were highlights! I highly recommend Joe Backpackers. PS: we were lucky to be there during the Asakusa Beat Festival, not far from the hostel.
