I left with nothing but regret. The place was filthy, smelly, and overall disgusting; I would not recommend it to anyone.

Emaplangeni Lodge, perched steps from Second Beach in Port St Johns, offers a tranquil garden and spacious terrace with sea‑view balconies. Each unit features a kitchenette, private bathroom, parquet floors, refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle and wardrobe. Guests enjoy an outdoor fireplace, kids’ club, playground and picnic area, while the Port St Johns Museum and Golf Club lie nearby.

The property was clean and the views from my room were a 💯, but the entrance was confusing—no reception or anyone to greet us at check‑in, and the room itself seemed poorly maintained.

There was nothing positive to note. The entrance was not clearly marked, and when I called for directions I was ignored.

They cancelled my booking and I only found out when I arrived; they had another guest who decided to stay an extra night. They should have called me right away instead of waiting four hours and could have offered a nearby alternative.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at Emaplangeni Lodge; everything from start to finish surpassed our expectations. Communication with Mancuthu was smooth and prompt, making the booking hassle‑free, and the location was perfect with sea view, great dining options nearby, and plenty of exploration opportunities.
