Sayang House

The room was roomy and beautifully decorated, and it even came with a hot water bottle – a lovely, thoughtful touch. It was spotless and well maintained. Claire and Gary were incredibly friendly, giving us great tips and local info, and chatting with them was a real highlight of our stay.

“Comfortable stay in the Shropshire hills.”

The location in the Shropshire Hills is superb, perfect for walking straight from the house. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, offering a delicious breakfast and great suggestions for nearby pubs and sights. The guest facilities were fantastic, with a large, comfortable lounge and a small kitchen with a fridge in addition to our room. We had a great visit!

“Excellent place to stay!”

The facilities were excellent, and the hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful; breakfast was also excellent. All was great.

“Consider Carefully!”

The garden was pretty and the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was good too, though if you don’t want to chat to strangers you should make sure there are 6 people in your party (or book a slot when other guests might be gone… this is not necessarily possible). Supposedly the place is “dog friendly” with a £10 fee per dog, but the female owner—part of a married couple running the B&B—looked visibly judgmental when I gave my dogs the fat off my bacon and told me “Don’t let them on the bed or furniture,” etc.; I think they’re tolerant, not friendly. The pillows were lumpy and we could hear traffic noise from our room, which had a tiny en suite shower that was fine but not for large people, and the loo was behind the door. Okay for a night or two. Lastly, the male owner seemed to think it was acceptable to use a loud electric hedge trimmer and then a sit‑on lawn mower while we tried to enjoy the garden on a Saturday evening pre‑dinner (out)! This was inconsiderate (we were 4 of only 6 guests residing). I would imagine they’d have fewer guests (and not be “enjoying” some evening sunshine in the garden) on a Sunday or Monday.

It was a fabulous place to stay; I could not fault anything. The rooms were comfortable, spacious and friendly. Breakfast was exceptional with a fabulous view of the gardens, and there were homemade biscuits in the room with a wide variety of teas. The small kitchen was perfect, especially during the heat wave, for keeping drinks and food cold. We will be back! ❤️ Nothing could improve our stay. Claire was a great hostess, and we will certainly be returning to stay again.
