The country location was nice, but I was surprised when we were shown to the stables; I hadn’t noticed anywhere during booking that we wouldn’t be in the house itself. The communal table at breakfast felt like school dinners, and our room wasn’t cleaned one day even though we hung our please service room card; there were a lot of cobwebs in the corners and on the top of lamps. An armchair was in the bathroom but none in the bedroom, so we moved it into the bedroom because the only chair there was a hard upright one.

The location, grounds, and free‑roaming dogs were great, but there was no restaurant.
