The location was great, even though the beach was crowded with boats, we found it very authentic. The staff were super friendly. They gave us a 10‑minute massage voucher, which we loved so much that we ended up getting a 1‑hour couples massage. The ladies were very professional and charming. The mattress and pillows felt a bit hard to us.

The service, food, location, and piña coladas were all perfect.

The staff are very friendly and, although they sometimes seem a bit lost, they always look for a solution. Breakfast is good and the Zanzibar fruit is wonderful. One of the morning cooks made a delicious omelet, another didn’t listen when I told him the ingredients, probably because of a language issue. Eating by the sea is very relaxing, especially early when there are almost no people. The drink prices are very good. Water is included with dinner, and coffee and juice are also included at breakfast. The bathroom is fine, although it’s small and I could only shower with hot water one night. The beach right behind the hotel is more like a dock, but walking about three minutes takes you to a larger and nicer beach. I had been warned about the beach boys, but I had no problem: a simple “no, thank you” was enough and I never felt unsafe or harassed by the vendors. They have a tour agency right there and at reception they help you contact the tour manager even if he’s not in the hotel, because he arrives later and leaves earlier than the tour schedule. Maybe someone who is available to give information about the tours would be helpful. The beds are uncomfortable, both the mattress and pillows and the wooden structure next to the mattress. At one point I removed the cover and one pillow was moldy or dirty (photo). The rooms are also small. The doors have a mirror system that faces outward during the day, but at night you have to close the curtains to avoid looking inside. The light went out several times, the Wi‑Fi failed, the mini‑fridge didn’t work, and the outlets had problems with the adapter. The hotel is everything but quiet and relaxing. There is always noise. The last night I was there they had a white party and everything was done in the dining room and you can’t dine in peace. The noise is also heard in the rooms. They should have different schedules and another sound‑proof place for those things. And the staff always want you to join and get up to dance or whatever when you’re dining. If it were another time maybe yes, but it’s not the right time or place. Also they have themed food nights, uff the least bad was the Asian one, but there were few alternatives for dinner, especially protein. In the case of the “India buffet” the rice was very spicy (spicy, not with spices), inedible after more than 3 bites. That day I ended up eating a pasta they have there because nothing else was good. And there was also no salad to complete it. Breakfast, on the other hand, was fine. For all guests they have one night where they serve dinner on the beach, which is very good, except that they do a show right there on the beach so you can’t enjoy the dinner and they serve you little, it’s a closed menu so there are no alternatives when you eat, it’s a buffet. I also find it contradictory that they don’t change towels and sheets daily for environmental reasons when there is a lot of plastic use and energy waste.

We enjoyed a lovely stay at Sansi Kendwa Beach Resort and were very happy with the overall experience. We stayed in a Deluxe Standard Room, which was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. We were greeted with a very warm welcome. The bed was beautifully decorated with flowers and a “Welcome” message, and a lovely fruit platter awaited us in the room. On our last day, the room was decorated beautifully again, which was a nice and thoughtful touch. We booked bed and breakfast. The breakfast buffet was quite small and the selection changed from day to day, but it was perfectly sufficient for us and we always left feeling satisfied. We also appreciated the mosquito service, which was available upon request. A staff member came to our room and treated it against mosquitoes, which was very helpful. The staff throughout the resort were friendly and welcoming. The included dinner on the beach was another lovely experience and a great touch to our stay. We also booked a massage package. The massage itself was relaxing, but we would like to give the hotel one important piece of feedback: please ask guests beforehand whether they have any existing pain, injuries or other health concerns, and whether there are any treatments they would prefer to avoid. During my massage, spinal manipulations were performed without asking me beforehand. They were very painful for me and, due to my personal circumstances, should not have been performed. A short health and preference check before the treatment could have prevented this.
