The room was very clean, but I didn’t see any staff at all.
Cozy and centrally located in the heart of Besakih Temple, this place is great for climbing Mount Agung and visiting the temple. The host is friendly, responds fast, and offers easy solutions. I liked the upstairs kitchen space for coffee and food. However, during the rainy season the room’s humidity is intense and nothing dries. Hot water pressure is almost nonexistent—cold water works fine. I chose the garden‑view room without a patio, and it had a lot of bugs (ants, beetles, earwigs, etc.), which makes sense given the humidity and open layout.
The location is great for the price: a 5‑minute walk to the temple, a 1‑minute walk to grocery shops and restaurants. A common fridge on the terrace is handy for water bottles, and coffee bags and a kettle are in the bedrooms. Free parking is available in front of the accommodation—just remember to bring a helmet. The place was very clean and they provided toothbrushes and toothpaste. The host was smiling, friendly, and gave good advice; he runs a shop a minute down the street with plenty of lollies and other convenient items. Thanks for his kindness. We booked for three people but were initially given only one room with a single double bed. After we spoke, they provided an additional room for free. If everything had been booked, we might have slept all three of us on one bed; a mattress on the floor would have been fine. The bedrooms smelled very bad, and it was hard to stay inside with the door and windows open—still smelled strongly. One bedroom had no sink in the bathroom. It was noisy at 5 am from neighbors.
Relaxing away from the city, this spot sits right on the main road by the temple and is super quiet. It’s perfect for easing into the Mt. Agung trail. The caretaker Gusti—known as “Smiley”—was incredibly helpful, arranging a guide, a door‑to‑door massage after the climb, a quick town tour around the temple, and even a free ride up to the trailhead. If you’re planning a stay, you won’t be disappointed, especially with Gusti around. Will book again soon!
Just a few hundred meters from the famous temple, the accommodation is clean, the staff friendly and eager to help, and the breakfast is excellent.
