Marguerite welcomed us into her beautiful home with warmth and care, the rooms were inviting and the beds incredibly comfortable, creating a relaxing and memorable stay that felt like home, but the place is far from grocery stores and restaurants, so having a car is important.

I’m a vegetarian with many food intolerances, so it wasn’t a surprise I couldn’t eat much of what was on offer, though I was given alternatives that I chose to skip. I arrived early and was greeted as soon as I stepped onto the drive, which was a pleasant start; the location and view were great, even though it took a short walk to reach the quay, and I was delighted to hear choughs calling outside my bedroom window. The only hiccup was a brief drop in mobile phone signal, but it didn’t cause any real trouble.

Marguerite’s hillside property overlooks the bay, the room faced the water and was comfortable, she was a gem of a hostess—friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and gracious—making breakfast to order and checking if we needed anything else, the living room near the front door was a nice spot to relax and meet other guests, and we’re glad she lists her home here; the Baltimore location was exactly what we wanted, away from crowded towns and cities, and West Cork is beautiful.
