Hotel Spongiola, the sole 4‑star resort on car‑free Krapanj Island, sits beachfront beside a pine forest and offers free boat transfers from the mainland near Brodarica (400 m). Rooms feature air‑conditioning, Wi‑Fi, satellite TV and minibars. Amenities include an indoor pool, fitness studio, wellness centre, infrared sauna, diving gear, windsurfing, kayaking, water‑skiing, and a restaurant serving authentic cuisine. Excursions to Kornati, Krka, Paklenica and Plitvice Lakes are arranged.

Krapanj, the smallest permanently inhabited Croatian island, is gorgeous, though the southeast side feels neglected with construction debris, likely from nearby residents. The staff—reception, room service, and restaurant—were consistently helpful and friendly, especially Mr. Nino, who was always cheerful, assisted us, and even ferried us to Brodarica by boat. The pool was clean and always open, and the interior, dating from 2005, was spotless. Italian or Spanish hotels could learn a thing or two from this place.

The unexpected arrival by private boat, the beach, the room, and the restaurant were all great, but the room’s sea view was disappointing because it faced the wrong side.

A top‑class hotel with direct beach access and a huge suite that leaves no wish unmet; the staff are very friendly and accommodating, making it a pleasure to stay here.
