“Buena”
The staff were helpful and the place was nice, but I expected a fridge and the internet was very unstable.

Hotel Bocas del Toro sits on a deck overlooking the Caribbean Sea, offering nautical‑styled rooms with flat‑screen TVs, air conditioning, organic coffee, handmade coconut bath products, and complimentary beach towels. Some rooms feature balconies. The on‑site restaurant serves fresh seafood and local dishes, while a lobby bar offers tropical cocktails. Guests can arrange archipelago tours, diving, snorkeling, and a 1‑minute boat ride to Carenero Island.

The photos used to advertise the hotel are completely misleading; they look like they’re from over twenty years ago. The supposed sea views are actually just a few meters of plastic roof over the restaurant terrace, far from what the images promise. Throughout the stay we were constantly exposed to smoke from nearby restaurants and nightly noise, which made sleeping impossible. To top it off, staff were seen eating at the reception desk, giving off a very unprofessional vibe for a place that claims to care about customer service. The gap between the marketing and reality is huge, and I would not recommend or return.

The room had great views, but the Wi‑Fi was spotty and didn’t work well.

The place is comfortable, with good beds, a clean bathroom, plenty of towels, and a central location near restaurants, bars, and the pier for taxis. The receptionists are friendly, but the building is being renovated, so our room had a strong, toxic wood‑varnish smell. We asked for a different room and the staff handled it politely, yet we still had a rough night. I’m writing this so they can ventilate properly before assigning rooms. Additionally, the windows lack insect screens, so they can’t stay open for ventilation. The breakfast staff were in a bad mood and seemed like outsiders, which was unpleasant. One day we were served a ham omelette even though we had requested no ham, and they wouldn’t change it until we insisted—our vegetarian status was ignored. The next day the hotel had no electricity or water, so we got no juice or coffee. On the third day we skipped breakfast entirely because it wasn’t worth it and paid elsewhere.
