The hosts were fantastic and drove us to an onsen, the cabin felt cozy, and breakfast was excellent!
We felt warmly welcomed and at ease throughout our visit; dinner and breakfast were tasty and convenient. Tosh offered to drive us up the ski hill unless the roads were too snowy, but the walk was pleasant and the resort’s powder was fantastic, so no complaints there. The return walk was downhill and easy. Tosh also accepted our boards shipped from the airport. The beds were comfortable, and the shared bath facilities were nice after a long day of snowboarding, with the option to lock the door for privacy. Many thanks to Tosh and his wife. The accommodation is simple but comfortable, so read the description carefully to see if it fits your needs. I recommend checking for a towel at check‑in, as there wasn’t one in the room.
The breakfast was great and set you up nicely for the day.
“Owners are nice people and friendly, but lacking in cleanness and management”
The meal featured fish, meat, salad, and soup with generous portions, and the owners were friendly and attentive. Our second‑floor room offered a nice view of the snowy scenery, and the shared washroom and toilet on that level looked almost clean. However, there was no drying area, so we had to re‑wear wet shoes and gloves the next day. The three‑storey pension varies greatly by room: the ground‑floor bathroom and toilet were damp and dirty, with hair, grime, and ant trails, making it impossible to stay there for more than five minutes. The second‑floor room was clean and comfortable, but it stayed hot at night because we couldn’t adjust the temperature. With no vending machine, we drank tap water. The room lacked tissues, mirrors, towels, and toothbrushes, so bringing your own is advisable. The furnishings were minimal—beds, a sofa, a small stand, a trash box, and some hangers—while the upper areas were neglected, showing cobwebs and dust in the rooms and shared washroom. After our one‑night stay, my family and friends suffered from severe stomach issues for a week.
The elderly Japanese couple are incredibly kind and ready to help with any request. Their food is delicious, and they can arrange snow gear bookings from a nearby place. The onsen bath after skiing was perfect. Nothing negative, but some might be bothered by the building’s dated look and thin walls.
