The setting was nice, the beds were comfortable, the room and bathroom were spacious and good, and the garden was lovely for evening meals. Dining at the restaurant was delicious; we ate there both evenings. Most staff were very friendly, and they offered a wide selection of fine wines on the menu that could be ordered by the glass, which was great. The ground floor had been renovated, is modern and cozy. Breakfast was wonderful with tasty coffee. If you choose not to have your room cleaned during your stay and skip towel changes, you receive a gift: we got two small bottles of local red wine, which was delightful. We liked that initiative. In winter and if the room had air‑conditioning, we would gladly return. The room was very hot, about 30 °C, and we couldn't get the heat out while it was cooler outside. The sun was on the room all day. It was summer and the area was warm. At night it was below 20 °C outside when we were there. The room description on Booking said no air‑conditioning, but the hotel’s own site did, so we assumed it was recent, which it wasn’t. There was no fan, no sunshade, screen or shutters for the windows, and the curtains weren’t very blackout. We asked if they had fans. We slept four people in the room and the beds were on three different spots, so we barely had two fans. Eventually we got a third fan, but it was so dusty that even after we cleaned it ourselves we didn’t use it. We felt they found us annoying for asking for another fan. Notably, all rooms on the same side of the hotel as ours were unoccupied and also felt very hot. Thankfully they weren’t occupied, otherwise there would have been too few fans. All other guests seemed to be in rooms on the other side of the hotel, perhaps cooler or with air‑conditioning? Initially we slept with the windows open, despite the risk of mosquitoes. Unfortunately, people stood and smoked near the hotel entrance for a while both evenings. Windows were shut again. The next day we hung our towels over the windows hoping it would keep the room cooler and darker, but it helped little with the temperature.

The kitchen was very good. At arrival on Wednesday, a holiday, there was no information posted anywhere.
