“Up there with one of lifes worst experiences.”
I had no check‑in details before arriving, so I sent a message that never got a reply and my calls were ignored. I called the mobile number on the confirmation, and the person on the line asked why I was calling, how I got his number, and demanded a screenshot of my confirmation; I sent it. After explaining my booking, he said someone would call me back. Joey called and said the accommodation I’d booked wasn’t available, then offered to send me a WhatsApp message for another property and sent me several different access codes. I used those codes to enter the other property, only to be met by a man at an open apartment door who asked what I wanted, insisted on proof, and when I mentioned Joey, his tone changed. When I told him I had a code for room one, he replied that the room was in the loft. It was indeed in the loft, with very steep stairs, and the door to the room was wedged open and clearly in use or not made up. I turned around and started to leave the 3 m × 3 m room when the guy promptly removed the pillow cases. He explained he was the caretaker for my original booking. Feeling very stressed, I decided to book a local Travelodge instead. I messaged Joey to request a refund, and he replied, “I understand, we’ll process the refund.” I later received a message saying the property had offered a full fee waiver for cancellation. I’m still waiting for the full refund.
