The hotel staff treated me well, yet the neighborhood was awful—stinky, filthy, and the hotel has no control over that. It’s a pity to see Madrid and this area in such a state.

The staff were great and the breakfast was solid, but the area around the hotel was a nightmare—smelly, dirty, streets blocked by protests, and I just wanted to leave the city. It was a shame to see Madrid like that.

The location is great, only 5 minutes from Sol, but the street isn’t the best in Madrid. A club sits right across, and at night it’s packed with teens and noise (though we didn’t hear it from our room). In the morning we swapped drunken teens for a soup kitchen, so the image of Madrid wasn’t ideal. Still, you can walk everywhere, perfect for sightseeing. The hotel itself is a solid four‑star: clean, modern, well‑decorated, and the breakfast is good. The street where it sits is both the best and worst part of the hotel.
