Warm welcome, kindness, and the facilities and program at the lodge. No issues.

I landed right next to the main square, surrounded by tiny bars, restaurants, and boutiques, yet the noise stayed far away. The breakfast was fantastic—cheese bread, cakes, a variety of breads, quiche, omelette, fried eggs—all served by incredibly polite attendants. João, the owner, was flawless in his kindness and knew everything about wine; the inn even has a cellar. He arranged a delicious mineiro paella with chef William—absolutely divine—and we enjoyed a tasty Buffon wine tasting. Josimar, the front‑desk guy, was super courteous and organized a Portuguese driver named Carlos to pick us up, handle our luggage, and greet us cheerfully. The inn reflects the Portuguese heritage of the founders, the art and paintings of Mrs. Alvarinha, João’s grandmother, and each room is named after a Portuguese wine region. There’s a gym with two treadmills and weights, and a huge pool. Our stay was wonderful! The only downside was our triple room, Dão, which was too small for three beds; we had to cram our three suitcases onto the floor beside the beds, and there was no wardrobe, just a small space with a few hangers.

I liked the linens and towels, but the privacy of the rooms left something to be desired.

We were swept into a variety of experiences. Upon arrival, we were greeted with such warmth, as if we were visiting family in Lapa do Lobo (Portugal), with plenty of conversation and storytelling. In the cellar, guided by the sommelier, we began our sensory journey, tasting cheeses and wines in an Italian‑Brazilian blend. Everything was wonderful, and my husband and I look forward to returning again and again until they can’t keep up with us, haha. A big thank you to Josemar, João, and the lovely Mr. João and Mrs. Maria.
