“Very comfortable hotel, great food and staff, and we would love to stay here again.”

The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious; parking at the back was convenient. The dinner and breakfasts were lovely, and the staff were very friendly and always ready to chat. We had to switch rooms after the first night, which we agreed to, and the bag transfer was seamless. The only downside was the traffic noise that was a bit relentless during the day and early evening, but it was quiet at night.

“Perfect stay”

A beautiful traditional hotel with lovely staff and facilities. Our dog was welcomed; a welcome pack, bowls, and blanket were provided for her. We have a very reactive small dog, so we told the staff and they kindly put us in a quieter area away from other dogs. Our room was gorgeous, with a huge comfortable bed and pillows, and plenty of refreshments. Every staff member we met was polite and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and restaurant food were lovely. Nothing we didn’t like.

“can't beat it”

The staff were brilliant, and the small town nearby boasts great restaurants and bars that are polite, value for money, and high quality—definitely worth a visit. The setting is close to the coast, just a 15‑minute walk to one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, which we have seen many times. The castle is splendid and a focal point of the area; a walk to Amble, a little over a mile away, is relaxing and easy. Stop by the chip shop—excellent—and don’t miss the fish market for fresh cod that was so tasty. The Geordie banger is worth taking home, the best bangers for your buck anywhere. The bed’s mattress needed replacing; guests had used it as a chair to enjoy the view from the window. The place is dog friendly everywhere, but I’m not a fan of dogs.

“Very comfortable hotel with pleasant and helpful members of staff.”

We enjoyed a great evening meal and a brilliant breakfast, and all the staff were very friendly and efficient. However, a fan or vent outside produced noise at night, ruining a good night’s sleep, and the bedside lamp didn’t work. We brought both issues to a very helpful person when we checked out.
