“Pretty but lacking...”
The cabin itself was pretty, minimalistic but with a comfy bed. The view from both the front and back of the property was gorgeous, mountains and horses one way and sheep and water the other. Parking right outside of the cabin was very convenient and the bathroom was spacious and modern. For 1 night it wasn't the worst. But if you plan to stay longer, then I'm not sure I'd recommend it. This area seemed particularly expensive for rooms, and this one was not the best equipped. On a very blustery and rainy day, the first thing we wanted to do was hang up our sodden coats. Unfortunately there were no hooks on the wall or any other surface from which to hang them. The only option was with the rest of your clothes between only 3 coat hangers on a rail under a leaky boiler that had a bucket under it. It seems hanging anything here was quite difficult as there were also no places to hang your hand towel nor bath towel whilst you are in the shower. The kitchenette was also left lacking. Although it may have a microwave, you only got 2 bowls to eat anything out of. No plates, no scissors, no measuring jugs or other utensils apart from a knife, fork and spoon. So don't plan anything more than some porridge or cereal. They may provide a kettle, but no coffee and 4 random flavoured tea bags (no normal tea.). But thankfully you can get that from the guesthouse bit upon check in. WiFi was meant to be included, but your cabin is so far from the main guesthouse that it doesn't reach your location. This also proves not ideal for one of the radiators in the cabin, that didn't seem to work without wifi connection. Thankfully the radiator plugged in near the bed provided some source of heat, which was bearable with the nice woollen blanket. Our night was partial to some particularly strong winds. This didn't mix well with the metal roof, which sounded like it was flapping in the wind, for several hours. Making it quite hard to sleep, despite the comfy beds. Unfortunately the wind also managed to drive the rain in through the lovely big windows, even though they were closed. We sacrificed a towel to the bottom of the window pane to stop it spreading further and leaking onto our suitcases. This was reported upon checkout, so hopefully it will be fixed for the next guest!
