The place has a lot of charm, next to a beautiful beach and area, and the staff arranged a transfer that took us around the island; the only downside was that the rooms had no windows and we could hear a nearby mosque’s call to prayer early in the morning.

The spot is fantastic, just a minute’s walk to the beach, and the bungalow is calm and quiet; maybe they could offer bottled water.

The bed was comfy with smooth, clean sheets and solid mosquito netting. I liked the patio—it felt secluded from the outside world. Breakfast was good, especially the coffee. The beach is only 30 metres away, but it’s too shallow for swimming or snorkeling, full of sea urchins and boats. As soon as you try to sit on the beach, salespeople appear and won’t leave you alone; we stayed there in mid‑September and no one ever sat on the beach, which looked empty until you realize why. The snorkeling trip to Mnemba with Eagle Ray Dive shop (virtually next door) was excellent. If you’re not into dogs, this isn’t for you, and if you want to sit and look at the sea you need to be in one of the seafront bars or hotels, otherwise your view is just of people selling things.

The four rooms are peaceful and just a stone’s throw from Matemwe beach. The room is spacious, with a ceiling fan, hot water, and good pressure. Hago, discreet, takes care of the morning breakfast, makes the beds, and tends the spaces. It was a pleasant several‑night stay that I really enjoyed. The downside is that power outages are common and there’s no generator, which also affects water delivery. We adapted, but it’s worth knowing. I’d have liked a little more variety at breakfast, but it was fine. Currently the house next door is renovating, but the workers don’t start until dawn.
