I was greeted with an extremely warm welcome from Antonio, the host, and settled into a beautiful junior suite overlooking the Villa Comunale. The room was spotlessly clean and had lovely touches such as perfume samples, shampoo, shower gel and soap, plus first‑rate cotton bed linen. The balcony was long, with outdoor furniture, and the place was surprisingly quiet even though it’s right in the city centre. The communal area was stocked with snacks and breakfast items—cereal, croissants, jams, milk and yoghurts—and a voucher let me grab coffee and a croissant at the downstairs bar, where the staff were hilarious, friendly and chatty. Reggio Calabria turned out to be laid‑back, friendly and clean compared with crazier cities like Catania and Palermo. I enjoyed walking along the Lungomare, catching views across the Strait of Messina to Eastern Sicily and glimpses of Etna, and visiting the free Palazzo della Cultura, which houses modern art including Dalí and Picasso. The National Archaeological Museum was another must‑see, with excellent displays and video commentaries. Thank you, Antonio, for such a wonderful stay; this is undoubtedly one of the best guest houses I’ve stayed in Italy. Highly recommended. Leaving :(

Everything was great—warm reception, meticulous attention to detail, 5‑star services. Antonio was super available and professional; the rest is yet to be discovered, but the risk level is zero!
