The location in the centre of Matrei was perfect, check‑in was smooth, and the breakfast at the hotel across the road was excellent – ideal for starting your stay in the region.

The room had a 1950s style, the bathroom was renovated, and everything necessary was available; the hike to the easily reachable Progreßklamm is highly recommended, but sturdy hiking boots and good footing are essential. The season had ended, so there was no open restaurant in the evening.

The location is great, right in the town centre and only 4 minutes from the express bus; the neighbouring hotel offers a varied and rich buffet breakfast; the room with a bathtub was very clean and the owner’s reception was very friendly.
