Modern furniture, breakfast, Hans’ welcome. The house was not well cleaned, the interior smelled of mildew, only one room was air‑conditioned while the listing said the house was air‑conditioned, the furniture was infested with termites, no parking – you have to park on the road.

We stayed in a spacious spot in a local neighborhood perched high on the ridge. The staff were super friendly and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay. The location worked great as a base for island exploration. However, booking a place up on the ridge in Rodrigues means you’ll have to accept that it’s damp and humid in summer. We checked in late afternoon right after the hottest part of the day, and it took a while to get comfortable because the room was closed up on a hot day when we arrived – but that’s just the climate.
