In a quiet location in the Glemm Valley, Hotel Austria - inklusive Joker Card im Sommer is 500 metres from Hinterglemm and 1 km from Saalbach. It offers a spa area, a ski school and a ski lift are 400 metres away. The spacious rooms overlook the mountains and include a small seating area, a flat-screen LCD TV, and a bathroom with shower and hairdryer. Most of the rooms boast a balcony. Spa facilities at the Austria Hotel include a Finnish sauna, a steam bath, and 2 infrared cabins. Guests benefit from a ski storage room and free Wi-Fi access in public areas. The half-board option is available during winter season, including a buffet breakfast with hot, cold and organic dishes and a dinner buffet with salad buffet. 2 times a week a themed buffet is offered for dinner. Half-board includes a breakfast buffet with hot and cold dishes and a 3-course dinner with a salad buffet. Free private parking is available on site. In good snow conditions, the ski run ends right at the hotel’s doorstep. A bus stop is right outside.

The dinner quality was a bit underwhelming for a four‑star place, and the breakfast selection felt a touch limited. Still, the overall vibe was pleasant and the staff were friendly.

The breakfast was solid and the bus stop right outside made getting around a breeze, plus the ski lockers were handy. Unfortunately the bathroom was a nightmare – a huge gap in the door, old door, unclean floor, moldy shower, and no ventilation. The heating was too strong even at low settings, the windows let in every street noise, the locker room smelled moldy, and the floor never got vacuumed.

My daughter and I each had a single room that looked very traditional but was in rough shape – the tiles were damaged, the sink was broken, and the bathroom light didn’t work. It wasn’t very clean either.

The hotel was nice overall, the breakfast was excellent, and the ski bus right outside ran every 15 minutes from 8‑17. However, the rooms weren’t cleaned properly – sand on the floor, corners missed, soap not refilled, towels not changed daily, and one day the room wasn’t cleaned at all due to staff shortages. The pool required crossing a path to reach.
