“It was lovely”
The location was great and the place was very comfortable, but we couldn’t get out to the courtyard.

The spot’s location is spot on and it’s a calm place to stay, but the Dutch rules about not locking doors are a bit annoying; the hosts weren’t at fault and they did provide a safe.

The location is a real perk: everything is within walking distance, and the accommodation is very quiet thanks to its slightly tucked‑in position on a low‑traffic street mostly used by pedestrians and cyclists. When we arrived, we were given a lot of reminders about noise and the ban on smoking, even on the landing. Unfortunately, those rules don’t always apply to the owners themselves: the front door is often slammed shut, the wooden staircase is used quickly and there are loud noises from the upper floor. The bathroom has no working outlet and the wiring in the bedroom looks unsafe with exposed wires. The patio, visible from the windows and nice to look at, is not accessible to guests, which is a shame. Another issue is that the room can’t be locked. Even though the owners say they respect guests’ privacy, the female owner entered our room one morning thinking we were gone. She apologized right away, but it was still awkward. The windows are double‑glazed with glued glass and have tiny handles that make opening them a struggle. Finally, a microwave would be nice, especially since there’s no kitchen or other water source besides the bathroom sink.

The location was fantastic—very walkable and charming, close to restaurants and other amenities. The interior was very spacious and comfortable. A microwave would have been handy; there’s no sink or running water in the kitchenette, but the bathroom sink makes it easy to fill a kettle. Dishes were washed in the bathroom, though a couple kitchen towels would have helped. The kitchen isn’t meant for cooking but does have supplies for bringing home a takeaway. I appreciated the small fridge! Unfortunately, my husband tried every light switch on arrival and blew the breaker, leaving us in the dark the first night; the host fixed it by 9:30 the next morning when he could access the below‑ground suite.
