“No way... Maybe in the past?”
Position of the hotel is nice, just in front of train station and peer. Shared balconys at any floor are a good idea. Terrible experience: $280/night for a dark, damp, noisy, and run-down room (1/5) Charging $280 a night for a room in this state is completely unacceptable. Our stay was a complete disaster from check-in to check-out: * No Reception & Zero Evening Support: There is currently no on-site front desk. You have to check in at a separate hotel about 50 meters down the street. That front desk closes at 8:00 PM, meaning there is zero staff support or assistance available throughout the evening and night, no one to complain to. To make matters worse, there are no signs or directions to help you find your room once you get to the property. * Room Discrepancy & Poor Layout: It seems like only a handful of rooms have received basic updates (like newer window frames), while others are practically unlivable. Our room felt like a dark cave: it faces a shared communal balcony/walkway rather than having an exterior view, leaving it with virtually zero natural sunlight and forcing you to keep the blinds permanently shut for privacy. * Dampness, Odors & Poor Condition: Upon arrival, the room was freezing (64°F) with the window wide open and the AC blasting at maximum power—clearly a desperate attempt to air out a damp, musty, and foul-smelling room. The floor was unpleasantly slick and slippery, and closing the broken window blind was a total struggle. The TV did not work, the Wi-Fi was completely down, and there was no cell phone reception. No drinking water was provided, and the tap water smelled noticeably of sulfur. * Inexistent Soundproofing: Rest was impossible. We could hear the neighbors flushing their toilet as if it were inside our own bathroom, footsteps from the floor above literally made our walls shake, and train noise was loud and frequent. On top of that, the bathroom exhaust fan was deafening and the refrigerator rattled loudly every time the motor kicked in. I have photos documenting the deplorable state of this room
