“Pleasantly surprised after reading reviews”

We recently stayed in the Deluxe Double Room with Balcony and Sea View. Reading some negative reviews beforehand made us unsure, but we were pleasantly surprised. The window seating area was a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the beautiful views over St Ives, and we appreciated the balcony and sea view. Though we didn’t use the kitchen, it looked modern, clean, and well maintained. The property sits on a hill, which is worth noting as it may be challenging for those with limited mobility. Overall, it was a pleasant place for a few nights, and we would happily return. The door lock mechanism was slightly confusing at first because you have to press the star, and the instructions were hard to see. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Some areas were a little dated, with a few scuffs and cracks on the walls and a crack in the shower tray, but these cosmetic issues did not detract from our overall experience.

The rooms are lovely, extremely clean and comfortable, and very quiet—no sound from other guests. The shared facilities were well stocked and clean. I would definitely consider staying here again when I return to St. Ives. Be warned: it’s a steep climb from the harbour side!

The room was a nice size. The staircase is very narrow and steep, and our room was on the 2nd or 3rd floor, so carrying luggage up was a challenge for us older guests. The shower water pressure was very low, making it hard to wash hair. The carpet had many stains, and the window faced the neighboring building with only a 4‑meter gap. We expected something different based on the description.
