“Excellent layout and perfect for a family overnighting.”
Perfect as a family room—just the right size! It was a bit pricey when the kids were added, and a baby gate might be worth considering as an option.
“Really ingenious room layout, very comfy bed and great shower - what's not to like?”
Getting in and out was a breeze, all the arrangements were clear and worked well. The room was tidy, well laid out, and surprisingly cozy with two chairs for a couple; the shower was one of the best I've ever had. It's within a short walk of the town centre, shops, market, and the Minster. The quirky little front door approach, friendly neighbours, and a mix of old‑world charm with modern fittings—auto lights, auto tap, combination lock security cupboard, fully fitted kitchen—made it feel both historic and space‑age, though there was no washing machine. The bathroom basin drain was slow to clear, a common issue that seems to be overlooked; no obvious ventilation in the room, but the fan kept it cool during the heatwave in mid‑August 2026. Parking wasn't as plentiful as advertised, but finding a spot about 50 yards from the door was fine, especially on a Friday evening outside The Reindeer pub. Because of these small hiccups, the score is a bit below 5/5, otherwise it would be perfect.
The location was good in a nice town.
“We had a lovely comfortable room, great place to stay”
I was thrilled by the spot—everything you could need for a comfy night is right there. The only downside was nothing at all. Southwell is gorgeous, packed with great restaurants, delis, independent shops, and plenty of history!
The rooms were spot‑on for our overnight stay after a local wedding—clean, comfy, and with thoughtful extras like orange juice, bottled water, coffee pods, and biscuits. The owner was clear, friendly, and helpful throughout our communication, and the self‑check‑in sped everything up before the wedding. 🙂 Everything was good.
