Central spot, efficient luggage storage, restaurants everywhere. It took us a while to get the phone to work, and it was our key.

Located in central Munich, the Bob W Munich Old Town design hotel offers modern rooms with free WiFi, queen beds, and bottled water. The boutique-style rooms blend urbanity and understatement. The hotel is one S-Bahn stop from Marienplatz city centre, with parking available at the nearby Isarparkhaus car park and breakfast at a local cafe within walking distance.

It felt impersonal, and there was only one blanket for two people.

The location and cleanliness were fine, but there was no staff on site—only WhatsApp chat. It’s not accessible for people with special needs, there’s no daily housekeeping and it’s chargeable if you want it, and you have to take out your own trash. It’s priced like a hotel but the service feels like a hostel. Don’t come if you have kids, babies, a stroller, or a wheelchair.

I booked a room facing the stairs with an emergency exit that was far from the clean, well‑described rooms on Booking; the breakfast was offered outside the property at a bar, but I couldn’t get it because no reservation was made. The description was written but unclear and slow to respond. I had no sheets on the mattress, and the chatbot told me to go to the service area to get one.

The room and the facility were cozy and tidy, with a decent size and handy items like a hair dryer and kettle; the lockers at the entrance were very useful for luggage. You can also join yoga classes or access the gym for free. Managing everything through the app was a big plus—easy, fast, and clear. The single beds were comfortable but cramped, and I would have liked a key card or card reader for the door after the first check‑in; relying solely on the phone (including the button to unlock the room) can be risky if the phone dies, as it almost happened during my morning walk.
