“Terrible the facilities were missing, no lights on to see as you came in. The bed was all right.”
I slept well on the bed, but everything else was a nightmare. I expected a Guest House to have a sign outside, but after walking up and down the road I found it only because I had its number. I had a code for both the front door and my room, but the porch and hall were in darkness; my phone’s torch lit only the front door, so I entered the code and turned the handle left. After failing repeatedly I called the provided number and left a message. They called back and told me to turn the handle right, but they never told us that. They also didn’t inform me that my room had been changed. My room was large but had no ensuite, and the sofa bed was nearly collapsed. Across the passageway was a toilet with no towel or soap, and there was none in my room. A Guest House would normally provide tea and coffee facilities, but unsurprisingly none were available. It definitely was not value for money; I expected a refund for staying the night. I was also surprised to see a large pile of mail by the front door, suggesting it isn’t collected regularly. This is definitely not a place to recommend; in fact, it’s the exact opposite. Don’t use it. I have plenty of other options in Southampton.
