The kindness and attention from the owner and staff were excellent, and the breakfast was good too; if we return to Huaraz, this would be my hotel. The only downside is that the bathroom has a single switch for both light and extractor, which can be a bit stressful at times.

The bathroom was first‑rate and the breakfast was high quality, even offering Birchermüsli, but the greeting from the stern‑looking lady was formal and only mildly friendly. My room faced directly onto the stairwell corridor with no view, despite the hotel being far from full, so I could have stayed at the previous hotel for half the price. The garden also lacked any seating.
