“NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!”

The place itself is pretty and the dinner food was nice. If you like Japanese breakfast, the breakfast would also be nice. However, the food was nothing special – the wine was very standard. The property needed a LOT of updating, the bathroom in our room was so damp because of the “sauna” room – it was really smelly. The whole room was damp and we woke up with sore chests. The whole place smells damp too – they burn incense to cover it. The pools need a good clean. They picked us up in the “shuttle” which was a shared car – we had to wait for the other people to arrive at the station and were told to sit in the back of the minibus. For the amount they charge, this is not acceptable. The staff were quite rude and the service at breakfast was subpar. For the prices they charge, this was really not worth it!!!

It feels like a slice of heaven—I’m even hesitant to write a glowing review for fear of attracting crowds and losing the chance to return—but honestly, there’s nothing here that I didn’t like.

Our second stay at Ochiairo lasted two nights, and we appreciated how the dinner and breakfast menus varied each day; the chefs even swapped a course for something we preferred. We booked the riverside sauna on the second day, which was lovely, and we enjoyed the new mixed‑gender Tengu no Yu onsen together. The facilities remain as well‑kept as in 2024, and the staff are still helpful and friendly, delivering consistently great service.

“This place is dreamy, you won’t want to leave.”

The onsens are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen—so relaxing, tranquil, and peaceful. The room is spacious, with heavenly beds and lovely forest views, and the roar of the aqua river is audible from the room and throughout the property. Food was delicious, and the lounge offered plenty of drinks and ice cream. A scenic hike to Joren Falls along the river added to the experience. I couldn’t find anything to dislike; perhaps a wider variety of snacks in the lounge would be nice.

“Luxury and perfect for vacation”

The complimentary cafeteria is superb, and the onsen with hot sauna and cold bath is perfect for an onsen resort; the food is excellent. The only downside is that the price is high.
