“Good.”
The spot was right in front of a beach, but it was far from Port Vila. Restaurant prices were a bit high.

Breakas Beach Resort, in Vanuatu, offers a relaxed tropical retreat on a 500-metre private beach surrounded by palm trees. The resort features a 22-metre infinity pool, day spa, and free continental breakfast. The scenery and the huts were nice, but there were no sound barriers. No wifi in the huts, and the reception wifi barely worked. It was very expensive – happy hour drinks cost $16, which was ridiculous. There was no way to contact reception from your accommodation. The bar staff couldn’t even make a martini and there were no olives. No extra blankets were available in the rooms for bedding. The huts were completely open with no sound barriers, especially at 6 am. Communication about water sports was bad; they didn’t advertise canoe availability, and when you asked one person about reef shoes they said they didn’t have any, even though they had a whole cupboard full. Coral Beach isn’t really swimmable; you can only snorkel on top of the water. They were pushy about putting all costs on your room, and it was a hassle when you wanted to pay as you went. A lot of work is required if they want to introduce kids there. There is literally nothing to do.

The beach area is big, live music is good, and the food quality is good. Overall it’s okay and I’ll come back for a third stay next time. As a frequent visitor to Port Vila, whether I’ll keep staying here depends on future visits. Compared to four other similarly priced places I’ve stayed at in Port Vila, having to pay for drinks at reception if you don’t want to be billed directly to your room is a bit strange – there’s no till at the bar. Some food and drink prices are high end. No umbrellas were provided to guests, and on a couple of very wet days there were no covered walkways to the restaurant or bar.

I absolutely loved our stay. Everything was perfect at this resort. Our lowest expectation for this trip was food, but it turned out to be the best. The food was exceptional. The staff were friendly and helpful all the time with a smile. Breakfast was perfect as well. The cleaning staff did an excellent job of cleaning our room every day. And the entertainment every night was good too.

The bungalow is quite culturally unique. The room is not super clean and there were quite a few small insects. There is no wifi at all in the room. The reception staff are not super responsible. Because of the wrong information they gave us, we missed our flight to Tana Island and lost almost $1000 in flight and hotel costs.
