Waldhotel Humboldtsee

The hotel’s setting is gorgeous, tucked in a forest with pristine nature and several nearby lakes where you can spot species like mud turtles, beavers, and kingfishers; the woods invite hiking, and the place is very quiet, almost dreamy. It’s family‑ and dog‑friendly, offering a small playground for kids and allowing pets into the restaurant. Most staff were friendly and attentive, breakfast was plenty, and the restaurant’s food was decent. The apartment’s size was more than enough for a four‑person family with a dog. Unfortunately, the property feels outdated, with glaring hygiene shortcomings that make the price‑to‑value ratio hard to justify, so I won’t return.

“Lage gut. Rest nicht ok”

The location was great, but the kettle in the room should have been replaced years ago, the toilet had wear marks from the previous guest, and when I tried to pay the bill the staff couldn’t hand it over—very bad.

“Prijs kwaliteit niet in verhouding.”

The hotel sits on a nice, quiet edge of the forest, breakfast is fine, and the room has a fridge, kettle for coffee and tea, and clean beds. However, the rooms are worn out, wardrobe doors are crooked, the lower parts of the frames are rotted, the radiator is rusty, the toilet bowl is damaged with limescale, the shower water stays barely warm all day, the tiled path to the room is dangerous because the tiles are uneven and wobbly, and the price per person per night is far from justified by the quality.
