“Entertainment and food was great. House and grounds exceptional but rooms are tired and need sorting.”

The house and grounds were beautiful, and the staff were very friendly. The bathroom had peeling paint on the walls and ceiling, black mould in the shower, and the bed was comfortable but the pillows were hard and uncomfortable, so I hardly slept and woke up with a sore neck. A trolley of dirty laundry and glasses was left outside our room for the entire stay.

“Not happy, it was very disappointing.”

The place looks gorgeous, but when I got there the main entrance door was locked. We knocked but no one answered, and when we called they told us to look online because it was closed. A guest finally came out, opened the door, and let us in. Inside, there was no receptionist; a staff member told us to go to the other side of the building. We walked about 3.5 minutes, reached the reception, and got a key. The receptionist then said we had to walk back the same way to the room. After another 3.5 minutes, we arrived at the room only to find it already occupied by another guest. Luckily the other guest was not there, so I saw clothes on the bed and quickly left. I tried calling again, but no one answered until someone eventually picked up and explained what had happened. They then sent someone with a new key for another room. No apologies, just a key and a walk away.
