“heerlijk genoten van Ameland”
A nice, quiet location above a very cozy café that causes no disturbance at all, but residents of other rooms were a bit noisy in the middle of the night.
“Très très moyen.”
The hotel’s location was spot‑on. The rooms had no air‑conditioning (36 °C) and the staff didn’t speak English or French, only Dutch, which felt like a blanket rule on the island; I won’t return to the Netherlands because it seemed like francophones were unwelcome all the way. Aside from the beautiful village of Hollum, the place offered nothing worth visiting unless you’re only there for a day, and there was no breakfast at the hotel. It feels more like a family beach retreat for a whole day of calm. The locals seemed to avoid contact entirely. On the ferry trip, I asked the port staff where the car boarding point was; they laughed and didn’t answer, and when I asked if they wanted to respond, they laughed even harder and said “no.” Their attitude was quite disheartening.
The hospitality and warmth were evident, and the studio was snug and clean. We did miss a small sink for doing the dishes.
The rooms were roomy and kept me cool during the heat, the dining area was delicious and the staff were fantastic – definitely coming back.
The cozy apartment and tasty food at the restaurant were great. The only downside was that the restaurant didn’t serve breakfast, but I still enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the bakery in Hollum.
