“Very tired hotel which with a little maintenance and updating could be lovelly”
We had breakfast at the hotel. The room was very cold when we arrived, and there was no guide on how to use the electric radiator, so we had to ask reception to fix it. The heated towel rail in the bathroom didn’t work, making the room so chilly that you had to rush through the shower. The bedroom furniture was dark wood and old‑fashioned. The bed was low and the mattress was very soft, so neither of us slept well. Even though it was a super king size, it needed a full replacement. The base was very close to the floor and visible, and the carpet was dusty in places the cleaner couldn’t reach. USB sockets, better lighting around the mirrors, and a longer kettle cord would help. The hot water in the bathroom took a long time to warm up, which was inconvenient when we were short on water. The lift was broken and looked unused for a while. The room door felt insecure, so we placed a chair in front of it. The external door had a sign reminding guests to lock it, but on three occasions it wasn’t locked when we entered or left, which was risky since it was away from the main reception. The view from the window was okay, overlooking the car park. The staff were attentive, responsible, and polite. The location, bedroom size, and chair comfort under a nice round table were all negative points.
