“Big rooms, welcoming staff, excellent guided tour and refreshing pool”
This Riad was larger than expected, with a lovely terrace for breakfast and a well-liked pool area. Our room looked out over the pool and the hill beyond, and the fly screens on the windows were a big plus for us Aussies who hate insects. The staff were cheerful and helpful, and the Riad arranged a guide named Abdullah who took us to the Todra gorge—spectacular but short—showing the spring sources, an abandoned nomad cave, and a shepherd calling his goats down the slopes. He also walked us through the lush Todra Valley gardens, met locals tending their plots, and we ate dates and sampled corn. We visited a Berber schoolhouse and home to get a feel for local life. Thanks, Abdullah! The crockery could use some throwing out—there were chipped plates, bowls, and cups. Interiors are a bit tired but clean and comfortable.
