“Schlechter geht es nicht”
We chose this place expecting a decent stay, but it turned out to be a nightmare from the start. The property is 2.3 kilometres from the city centre and parking is not reservable, leading to a complete lack of spots. It’s squeezed between two main traffic roads and is very noisy. A café below our window runs running groups every Wednesday and Friday from 6.00 am, filling the space with people. The stairs are narrow, making it nearly impossible to bring a suitcase up. There is no on‑site staff; everything is handled by a call centre. Windows lack proper sound insulation, and the room door sticks, forcing us to slam it shut and wake everyone. The balcony door also sticks and cannot be locked. The bathroom door (a mini‑bathroom with a sink in the bedroom) can only be opened with a bang. There are open gaps in the shower tray, creating a breeding ground for germs, mould, and sulphur. Hot water is scarce because much of the city’s supply is wasted in the drain. The room contains two single beds in separate rooms, an ancient carpet, bad mattresses, and a bed frame made from glued plywood. The room cannot be fully darkened. The terrace floor and the common roof terrace have not been painted for years and are rusty. The communal kitchen looks like a shared flat where no one follows the cleaning schedule. We disinfected every handle ourselves, having learned this during the pandemic. We hung a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door and added our own.
