“I don't recommend it unless you want to spoil your impression of this wonderful city.”

The room was stinking damp, the air conditioner was old and barely worked, and the windows had no screens, so mosquitoes kept us from airing out. The hotel feels like it’s long past its prime. Nobody spoke English, the receptionist was painfully slow, the restaurant was always shut, the grounds looked bleak, and everything seemed broken.

The shuttle drivers were very friendly, but the pool turned out to be a scam—it wasn’t treated, full of algae and bacteria, yellowish and unsafe to swim in; the front‑desk women never said hello and were quite rude; the oil used in the breakfast dishes was rancid, as is common in many Guilin restaurants, and it made us ill; the shuttle system for getting in and out of the hotel was inconvenient because no one spoke English, leaving us waiting up to 15 minutes; the hotel was noisy—on the first night a group of four Chinese men drank in the courtyard until 2 am, and the next night children were in the pool until midnight; we reported this to Booking, which refused responsibility, and the hotel offered no compensation. In short: avoid the hot dishes and definitely stay away from the pool—it’s dangerous.

The property is pretty, with a pool and comfortable beds. The room is spacious and well-equipped. The shuttle drivers between the hotel and the park entrance run 24 hours, always polite and helpful. The resort sits in green, but the surrounding park is decayed and unused, which slightly detracts from the overall experience.

The rooms are large, and the shuttle drivers are quick and very helpful. The breakfast area was definitely too small, and there was a constant smell of smoke in the corridors because it apparently was allowed. The rooms were not well sound‑proofed.

Nothing positive to note. The building felt outdated, breakfast was only Chinese, and the staff were rude and didn’t speak English. The worst part was the day‑trip to the Longji rice terraces: we asked the hotel’s own agency for help, had an itinerary agreed, but halfway to the terraces we were forced into a paid show we didn’t want, losing about three hours. To actually reach the terraces instead of being left 4 km up a hill, we had to pay the driver an extra 160 yuan, which we were forced to do. Neither the driver nor the hotel answered our questions. Terrible experience; we’ve never been treated like this anywhere else in China.
