Little Tamarind

We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Little Tamarind. We booked the small villa but didn’t realize there was no ocean view, though another room was available, and the owner upgraded us for a very small fee. The original small villa is beautiful and would be lovely, but the upgrade to the ocean view was a no‑brainer. The upgraded room was excellent and very luxurious. The king‑size bed was so comfy, the bathroom had double sinks, and a separate shower with hot running water—rare in Sri Lanka—was fantastic after a beach day less than a 5‑minute walk away. I’ve been traveling around Sri Lanka and Vietnam for the last 9 months and never stayed anywhere without AC, so when I say I had some of the best nights I’ve ever had at Little Tamarind without air conditioning, I really mean it—doors open, a fan blowing, and a mosquito net around the bed. The temperature was perfect, and I slept like a baby. Listening to waves crash and wildlife sounds while drifting off and waking up each morning was truly magical. The constant sea breeze from the balcony into the room, with the sun always present but never directly hitting the rooms, made for some of the best sleeps I’ve ever had. If you’re like me and always filter for AC, don’t make that mistake with Little Tamarind. This place is special for many reasons. You feel extremely close and connected with nature, and the staff are absolutely incredible. We were welcomed with a delicious fresh smoothie on arrival and were looked after throughout our stay.

“Enjoyed our stay but was glad to get a little comfort when we moved on”

We booked the bungalow which was at the bottom of the drive but when we got there the manager was trying to get us to relocate to a larger room at the top of the hill. We decide to stay in bungalow as felt the hill was too much in the intense heat. After night 2 we were woken by praying over a megaphone that continued for 36 hours so we moved otherwise we would not have been able to sleep. Liked the peace before this started. The manager was very helpful. Wonderful gardens with chipmunks and monkeys. Very old. Not very clean. Property out of way no lighting

“Excellent Support from Staff”

The staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful, supporting us beyond what we paid for and arranging all necessary help for the rest of our trip. The free dental kits were not provided.

“Queremos repetir!”

The views were spectacular, and the location was very good. The place was clean and well‑maintained. We had booked a stay that turned out not to be what the photos showed and wasn’t prepared, but we ended up in another space that we liked a lot.

“Tolle, aber etwas bescheidene Unterkunft”

The view was stunning, the atmosphere peaceful, and the stay felt close to nature; the staff were attentive and the shower was spacious and beautiful, but there was no air conditioning and no safe, which would have been desirable at this price point.
